Beauty Products I'm Taking With Me Into the Next Decade💋

Y’all. I truly cannot believe today is the last day of 2019! The year as been one of the best. I moved to a new city, met some amazing people here in Austin, started my blog, traveled, learned to cook (somewhat), and am truly happy with where God has me right now.

When thinking about what I wanted to write for today’s post (aka my last post of the decade), this actually wasn’t my first choice. I thought about talking New Year’s resolutions (do y’all do those? I actually haven’t written any this year. <– Still might do a post on this), my specific goals, y’alls favorite finds throughout the year, this list could go on! BUT I decided on this one because I think it’s super beneficial. I get questions all the time on my favorite beauty products, so I wanted to break it down and tell y’all which ones are coming with me into 2020.

Laneige Water Bank Hydro Gel – I’ve talked about this MANY times. Recently I tried a few other moisturizers when I was traveling (dumb move), and my skin hated me for it. This is my FAVE.

SUNSCREEN – if you aren’t using any, START NOW.

Coola Mineral Sunscreen – I’ll probably never use anything else. I wear this every single day! Both under makeup and by itself. I apply my moisturizer and then my sunscreen.

Tatcha Silk Canvas – I’ve tried “dupes” and they are just not as good. Trust me, if you have pores, YOU NEED THIS. My makeup lasts so much longer with this. Though pricey, its a must have. Plus, this container lasts me a while.

J. Cat Beauty Aquasurance Powder Foundation – This is my go to when I’m doing a super quick yet full face of makeup. My makeup application is SO MUCH FASTER when I use this. It’s is very full coverage which y’all know I LOVE. I use two shades depending on my skin tone at the time lol – “Ivory” when I’m at my fairest, “Natural” when I have some self-tanner going on, and I’ll mix the two if needed.

I’m still trying to find MY GO TO liquid foundation. For a while, this one was my absolute favorite. That was until I’m convinced it started breaking my skin out. I won’t bore y’all with that sob story but I’ll let you know when I find my fav. *PS: if this doesn’t break your skin out, this one looks amazing on the skin.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – Shocker right? I’m actually not using this one right now. I’ve been trying out a different concealer which I do like, but I don’t LOVE. And I LOVE my tarte shape tape. So, I’ll be bringing my tarte with me into 2020.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand – This has changed the way my makeup looks (at least I think it has lol). Once you get the technique down, its a super quick application. I wear it most days! However, if cream contour isn’t an everyday thing for you, this looks beautiful in photos.

Makeup Revolution Bake and Blot Powder – I found this a while ago and I love it. I don’t use it to set my under eyes, but I’ll use a big fluffy brush and set the rest of my face with it. I use the shade translucent.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – I’ve had this for SO LONG and I always find myself coming back to it! It smells like you’re on the beach which is also amazing. I wear the shade “deep bronzer” because it works if I have a self tanner on or not. If I’m more fair, I’ll just apply a little. The shade “bronzer” is what I used before, but they have now expanded their shade range!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette – My all time favorite highlight + contour palette. I will tell y’all that I don’t use all the shades in this palette. I use the bottom left to contour and the top middle to highlight. Occasionally, I will use the other bronzed shades on my eyes or cheeks, and the top left under my contour. If you don’t think the entire palette is worth it but want to try out a couple shades (my sister recently did the same), Kat Von D recently launched mini versions (how cute!!) with just two shades in each. My sister purchased the shade “light” which contains the same contour shade I use.

Colourpop Supershock Highlighter – This has been my go-to recently. It feels like butter and blends so effortlessly. I also use this as eyeshadow occasionally. I wear the shade “flexitarian”.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Gel – SO glad I found this. On days I don’t feel like doing anything with my brows, I run this threw them and bam, I have better looking brows. It doesn’t add shape to my brows, just color and texture. I’ll also use this when I’m going for a full face. It makes the pencil application super quick and easy. I use shade “taupe”.

MAC Eye Brows Styler Pencil – I have gone through too many of these to count. BUT, just because I’ve been using them for so long, not because they don’t last long. Because I hate eyebrow pencils that don’t last long. This has been my fav eyebrow pencil for so long and I don’t see myself trying another one. I use shade “stylized”.

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Liner – Super easy to work with and lasts all day.

Lancome Cils Booster XL Lash Primer – Another product I’ve repurchased too many times to count. I apply this about 30 seconds before my mascara and it makes my lashes look so much more voluminous and longer than they actually are. OBSESSED!

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist – I use this once I am done with all of my powders (before moving onto my eye makeup), just to really set everything in place. It sort of meshes all the powders into the skin. I used to be scared of this product because it says “dewy” but now I love it!

*just purchased a new setting spray that I use after all of my makeup is complete. I will report back after I’ve used it for a while with my final thoughts!!

MAC Matte Lipstick – The shade “Love U Back”. My PERFECT everyday shade. I’m also in love with the formula.

Beakey Beauty Sponges – The best affordable beauty sponges I have found!

Let me know your favorite beauty products down below!!

I hope y’all have a safe + fun New Year and that 2020 is all you wish it will be✨

Lets Talk About At-Home Teeth Whitening.

Many of us have tried it, and I’m sure many have use haven’t LOVED our experience of at-home teeth whitening. I was the same way. That was until I tried Smile Brilliant’s take on teeth whitening.

When Smile Brilliant first reached out to me in regards to trying out their at-home teeth whitening kit, I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical. I’ve tried teeth whitening at home, and I haven’t always been a huge fan. After doing my research on the brand and reading all the great reviews, I decided to give it a try for myself.

Before I go into detail on all the reasons Smile Brilliant has been great for me (and show y’all my before and after pictures PLUS A GIVEAWAY!), I want to tell y’all the exact process from start to finish.

1. SB will send you a kit with full instructions on how to make your “impressions”. Once this has been done, you will send the impressions back to SB with a prepaid shipping for them to create your teeth whitening trays- so they are CUSTOM made to fit YOUR TEETH!

2. Once you have received your trays back from SB, you can begin the whitening process! SB also has desensitizing gel for those with sensitive teeth, which I believe was a game changer during my experience.

3. I whitened my teeth for 45 minutes (you can whiten them for 45 minutes to 3 hours) followed by 15 minutes of the desensitizing gel.

4. After that, just wait 30 minutes to 1 hour to eat and you are good to go! SO EASY!!

  • The desensitizing gel was an absolute game changer! My teeth never felt sensitive like they have in the past with other whitening systems.
  • The trays are custom fit to my teeth! This method is actually the same as provided by the dentist. Opposed to the common method of strips, these do not slip and will stay in place no matter what I am doing!
  • I am able to be productive while whitening my teeth. I can cook, shower, work, etc. while whitening my teeth.

I’m very excited to share my before and after pictures with y’all! These pictures were both taken in my living room in front of natural light, with no flash, no filter, and no edits.

As you can tell from the pictures, there is such a difference in how my teeth look! I am so thankful for SB and will 100% continue to use their whitening system.

I am SO EXCITED to be teaming up with them for a giveaway of a free teeth whitening kit!!! The link to enter is here:

I also have a code for 15% off the entire site! Just use code “daytodaywithkylierenee15” for 15% off

Let me know if you have ANY questions about this post, the whitening system, or anything in between.

American Eagle Try On – Everyday Pieces All Under $25

I am so excited to share these American Eagle pieces with y’all! Mainly because they are all SO CUTE, but also because they’re all on MAJOR SALE! When I say they’re on major sale, I mean that they are actually on MAJOR MAJOR SALE. I found them on clearance and then at an additional 70% off of that price! Plus these are just some great pieces to add to your closet.

Y’all know I love pieces that I can wear interchangeably with many different items, and these pieces are JUST that!

I’m also sharing a full try-on on my Instagram stories if y’all are interested (@kyliemckinnon_)!

Sweater // Bracelet (similar)

I am OBSESSED with this colorblock sweater! The colors of this are beautiful and I will wear this year round (until we reach those scorching temps in Texas lol). I purchased a XS/S and it is definitely oversized, which I really like. It comes in multiple other colors as well (blue seen below). This is also very comfortable! It was originally $50 and is now only $20.

Sweater // Jeans // Necklace // Bracelet (similar)

This is the same sweater as seen above, just in solid blue. I love the color, and again I will wear it as long as I can! It fits just the same as the multicolored one (I purchased an XS/S – fits oversized).

Cardigan // Jeans (similar) // Booties (similar)
Cardigan // Necklace // Bracelet (similar)

This was the first piece I chose because I knew I had to have it! This cardigan will look so cute dressed more casual with sneakers or dressed up with booties. Unfortunately, I can’t find this color online but the Olive and Oatmeal colors are just as pretty! I purchased a small and it fits true to size. This is originally $50 and is currently $20.

I am OBSESSED WITH THIS COLOR! And the quality of this sweatshirt?! I literally feel like I am wearing something as soft as my barefoot dreams blanket. It is SO SOFT AND COZY. The name of it is “ahh-mazingly soft sweatshirt” and that’s exactly what it is lol. I love it so much I had to buy it in black (seen below). I purchased a medium for an oversized fit. I would say it is true to size. This is originally $40 and is currently $16.

The same sweatshirt seen above, just in black. Stefan told me I didn’t need both, but clearly I did. They are THAT GOOD. Plus, I think everyone needs a black tunic in their closet.

Top // Jeans // Booties (similar)

When I saw this turtleneck I immediately imagined it with jeans and booties, so of course I had to throw it on with that! I also think it would look cute with leggings, so I got a size large to cover the booty. I wish I would have gotten a medium, as the large is a bit too big. I’m going to keep it so I still wanted to share it with y’all! It fits true to size, so if you want a more fitted look stick with your true size. It comes in 3 other colors (gray, black, and white). This is originally $35 and is now $18.

I love the length and neutral colors of this cardigan. This can be worn with many different pieces since it is so versatile! If you’re looking to add some color to your wardrobe, it also comes in a navy and rust color. It is originally $60 and is now $24.

Which piece is your fav?! American Eagle has so many good pieces that are on major sale now so be sure you check their site out!!

Amongst the craziness of the holidays, it can be easy to get caught up in the shopping, prepping, and everything in between! I wanted to share an easy way to send a super thoughtful and inexpensive gift to your friends and loved ones to let them know your thinking of them, even if you’re unable to see them during the crazy holiday season.

NYC 2019

If you’ve been following along on Instagram stories, you know I just got back from New York City yesterday. I went with my mom and sister and we had the most amazing girls trip (we’re already planning our trip back next year LOL)! I thought it would be fun to share the places we hit- including restaurants, shows, “touristy” areas, etc. for any of you planning a trip, and also so I will have this to refer back to on trips for years to come hahah.

FOR THE FOODIES – as I’m sitting here eating my spicy lentil wrap (although very yummy) I am reaaaally missing the delicious meals we had during our trip!
