Y’all. I truly cannot believe today is the last day of 2019! The year as been one of the best. I moved to a new city, met some amazing people here in Austin, started my blog, traveled, learned to cook (somewhat), and am truly happy with where God has me right now.
When thinking about what I wanted to write for today’s post (aka my last post of the decade), this actually wasn’t my first choice. I thought about talking New Year’s resolutions (do y’all do those? I actually haven’t written any this year. <– Still might do a post on this), my specific goals, y’alls favorite finds throughout the year, this list could go on! BUT I decided on this one because I think it’s super beneficial. I get questions all the time on my favorite beauty products, so I wanted to break it down and tell y’all which ones are coming with me into 2020.
Laneige Water Bank Hydro Gel – I’ve talked about this MANY times. Recently I tried a few other moisturizers when I was traveling (dumb move), and my skin hated me for it. This is my FAVE.
SUNSCREEN – if you aren’t using any, START NOW.
Coola Mineral Sunscreen – I’ll probably never use anything else. I wear this every single day! Both under makeup and by itself. I apply my moisturizer and then my sunscreen.
Tatcha Silk Canvas – I’ve tried “dupes” and they are just not as good. Trust me, if you have pores, YOU NEED THIS. My makeup lasts so much longer with this. Though pricey, its a must have. Plus, this container lasts me a while.
J. Cat Beauty Aquasurance Powder Foundation – This is my go to when I’m doing a super quick yet full face of makeup. My makeup application is SO MUCH FASTER when I use this. It’s is very full coverage which y’all know I LOVE. I use two shades depending on my skin tone at the time lol – “Ivory” when I’m at my fairest, “Natural” when I have some self-tanner going on, and I’ll mix the two if needed.
I’m still trying to find MY GO TO liquid foundation. For a while, this one was my absolute favorite. That was until I’m convinced it started breaking my skin out. I won’t bore y’all with that sob story but I’ll let you know when I find my fav. *PS: if this doesn’t break your skin out, this one looks amazing on the skin.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – Shocker right? I’m actually not using this one right now. I’ve been trying out a different concealer which I do like, but I don’t LOVE. And I LOVE my tarte shape tape. So, I’ll be bringing my tarte with me into 2020.
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand – This has changed the way my makeup looks (at least I think it has lol). Once you get the technique down, its a super quick application. I wear it most days! However, if cream contour isn’t an everyday thing for you, this looks beautiful in photos.
Makeup Revolution Bake and Blot Powder – I found this a while ago and I love it. I don’t use it to set my under eyes, but I’ll use a big fluffy brush and set the rest of my face with it. I use the shade translucent.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – I’ve had this for SO LONG and I always find myself coming back to it! It smells like you’re on the beach which is also amazing. I wear the shade “deep bronzer” because it works if I have a self tanner on or not. If I’m more fair, I’ll just apply a little. The shade “bronzer” is what I used before, but they have now expanded their shade range!
Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette – My all time favorite highlight + contour palette. I will tell y’all that I don’t use all the shades in this palette. I use the bottom left to contour and the top middle to highlight. Occasionally, I will use the other bronzed shades on my eyes or cheeks, and the top left under my contour. If you don’t think the entire palette is worth it but want to try out a couple shades (my sister recently did the same), Kat Von D recently launched mini versions (how cute!!) with just two shades in each. My sister purchased the shade “light” which contains the same contour shade I use.
Colourpop Supershock Highlighter – This has been my go-to recently. It feels like butter and blends so effortlessly. I also use this as eyeshadow occasionally. I wear the shade “flexitarian”.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Gel – SO glad I found this. On days I don’t feel like doing anything with my brows, I run this threw them and bam, I have better looking brows. It doesn’t add shape to my brows, just color and texture. I’ll also use this when I’m going for a full face. It makes the pencil application super quick and easy. I use shade “taupe”.
MAC Eye Brows Styler Pencil – I have gone through too many of these to count. BUT, just because I’ve been using them for so long, not because they don’t last long. Because I hate eyebrow pencils that don’t last long. This has been my fav eyebrow pencil for so long and I don’t see myself trying another one. I use shade “stylized”.
Benefit Cosmetics Roller Liner – Super easy to work with and lasts all day.
Lancome Cils Booster XL Lash Primer – Another product I’ve repurchased too many times to count. I apply this about 30 seconds before my mascara and it makes my lashes look so much more voluminous and longer than they actually are. OBSESSED!
Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist – I use this once I am done with all of my powders (before moving onto my eye makeup), just to really set everything in place. It sort of meshes all the powders into the skin. I used to be scared of this product because it says “dewy” but now I love it!
*just purchased a new setting spray that I use after all of my makeup is complete. I will report back after I’ve used it for a while with my final thoughts!!
MAC Matte Lipstick – The shade “Love U Back”. My PERFECT everyday shade. I’m also in love with the formula.
Beakey Beauty Sponges – The best affordable beauty sponges I have found!
Let me know your favorite beauty products down below!!
I hope y’all have a safe + fun New Year and that 2020 is all you wish it will be✨
